It's 7:40 on the Sunday before Memorial Day. Hubby and Son are out on the back deck enjoying some idle chatter. I love hearing them visit. The ribs are on the smoker. I've just finished my shower and have put "my recipe" (Pillsbury w/cream cheese frosting) of cinnamon rolls in the easy bake oven. Skies are a clear blue. There's a bit of a breeze and the rain from a 3:45 a.m. thunderstorm is dripping from the leaves on the trees. In a few hours our daughter, son-in-law, five day old granddaughter, Hubby's brother and sister-in-law will be here for dinner. If our other granddaughter could be here, it would be a perfect day. But we'll enjoy visiting, good food and laughter and it will be a great day!
Oh, my dear, it is never just "idle chatter." We are solving world problems. ;) But it's a good time; real boding moments spent while doing something we both love - cooking food so we can eat it. And it was a good day, in spite of the absence of the other granddaughter. If only some people weren't such thoughtless and selfish butt-heads.
