Ho Ho Ho!

The holidays can't get much cheerier when you have such an adorable little Santa.  This photo was taken in November when Little Sunbeam was nine months old.  She had pulled herself up between my knees.  We used this as the photo for our Christmas Gazette.  I'm guessing folks are tired of hearing about my grandchild, but they'll have to endure my ravings.  Nothing can put a smile on my face faster than seeing this Little Sunbeam.

It's just three nights until Christmas and it's busy at our home.  There are gifts wrapped and under the tree and more are in the guest bedroom and livingroom waiting to be adorned with paper and bows.  Gampa put Little Sunbeam's gift together yesterday afternoon and it will be put in a huge bag and placed next to the tree this evening.  Our little family decided not to draw names for gifts this year and instead buy a gift for Family Night: game, karaoke, movie, whatever.  We thought that was a good idea since we enjoy our time with the kids and it saved everyone a little Christmas money.  (Now if we can get some Family Nights on our calendars.) 

This evening the scents of baking cookies will drift through our home: Peppernuts and Spritz, our family favorites.  I've still got to mix up the Scottish Shortbread, Mr. Hubby's favorite Christmas treat. Peppernuts are labor intensive, little crunchy cookies that are rolled and cut into pieces that bake to a morsel close to the size of an almond.  My maternal grandmother made these for Christmas, as does my Mom and now me.  It pleases me that my son has offered to help bake these for the last few years.  My daughter will be there if time allows.  It's good family time and we eat a few while we're at it.  It's like eating popcorn!
