Bully Pulpit

In my mind, there is a fine line between some forms of joking and bullying. Or maybe there is some age a person reaches when a hurtful comment goes in one ear and magically exits the other ear as a joke. Apparently, I've not yet reached that age.

Jokes about Gov. Chris Christie's weight are not funny.  It doesn’t matter if you're in grade school or have a late night show: a bully is a bully.

No wonder kids think it's OK to be mean when "adults" are leading the way and others laugh and applaud.

I agree. The man's weight is not at issue. If someone had said such things about a candidate's color or sex or religion, people would be outraged. But it's okay to do the same to someone because of the size of their suit? Big folks are becoming the new scapegoat.
