Mother's Day ~ 2012

Mother's Day was just lovely.  Son, Daughter, and SIL were here, as was the littlest granddaughter, Blueberry.  We gathered for dinner and enjoyed grilled burgers, potato salad, orange/carrot/pineapple jello salad and chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting.  Delicious.

The afternoon was spent playing with Blueberry and a movie was watched while a couple of kids napped.  Son left around 6 for a miniature golf date, so the rest of us took lawn chairs to the back yard and placed them around a sheet for Blueberry to walk and sit on.  She's not a fan of grass on her legs and feet yet, but with shoes on, she was content walking around the chairs.  Blueberry also sat with me on the lounge chair and we sang "The Itsy Bitsy Spider", which she really got in to, bouncing and clapping.  It was a beautiful day and we were out there until it began getting a little chilly and a few mosquitoes made an appearance.

Several times during the day, I thought about my Mom, who was celebrating, with some of my siblings and their kids, back home.  A couple of situations keep us from getting home as often as we'd like too, or should.  However a phone call later in the evening was pretty close to being there.  All that was missing was a hug and peck on the cheek.

Sugar was also on my mind frequently.  Being Mother's Day she, of course, spent the day with her mom.  Sunday also is one of the two days Son gets Sugar during the week, so he gets shorted on some holidays.  To her credit, Sugar's mom had Sugar give me a call Sunday morning and I heard her little voice say, "Happy Mother's Day".

I'm proud of these two "kids".  May 13, 2012
