National Picnic Day

A reliable "fun holiday" source informed me today is National Picnic Day.  What do you know about that?  And who declares these holidays?  My family did not celebrate today.  We were, as usual, ahead of our time and had plans to picnic yesterday.  Mother Nature had other ideas.

Yesterday was sunny, but cool and windy and not the best afternoon to put disposable plates and silverware on a picnic table with a breeze blowing across the local lake.  So we ate our picnic lunch of chicken salad sandwiches, pasta salad and fruit salad at our dining room table. A bit later we put on jackets and headed to the lake so the granddaughters could swing...

Kids of all ages enjoyed the swings.
 and feed the ducks.

The outing wore out Sugar, her Dad and Blueberry, who napped while Daughter, SIL, Hubby and I watched "Capricorn One", a favorite movie of ours.

So while we didn't celebrate on the exact date, we did unintentionally enjoy a fun National Picnic Day one day early.
